Nancy lived a life devoted to her faith, family, church, and serving others. She graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in 1955 with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Speech, and later earned a master’s degree in Christian Education from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Nancy began her career as an elementary school teacher, teaching in both Texas and Hawaii, before dedicating much of her career to social work. She served families through the State of Florida and Pinellas County Social Services and later continued helping others as a chaplain with Marketplace Ministries and a counselor with the Center for Women’s Ministry.
In 1961, Nancy married Reverend William J. Davis, her beloved husband of 57 years until his passing in 2018. One of the greatest joys of her life was being a minister’s wife and serving alongside her husband. Their final church ministry together was at Lake Seminole Presbyterian Church in Seminole, Florida.
Nancy’s love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, was the foundation of her life. She was active in the church throughout her lifetime, teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir, and serving in Christian education. She also loved traveling, staying active, and keeping informed about politics, health, and the world around her.
Above all, Nancy was a devoted wife, an amazing mother and grandmother, and a loving sister and friend. She was deeply loved by her family and all who knew her.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Heather Smith; son, Brent Davis; grandchildren, Kaily Ford, Connor Ford, Blake Ford, Nichole Smith, Lauren Smith, and Justin Walker; and sister, Beverly O’Neal.
Nancy’s 92 years were filled with faith, service, adventure, and love. Her family takes comfort in knowing that the faith she cherished throughout her life remained at the heart of who she was, and her legacy will live on through all those she loved.
