He was born in New Haven, CT in 1944 to Helen Billings and Charles Mahan. Norman graduated from Glastonbury High School in Connecticut and attended Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont. Norman started his company, Tampa Bay Telephone in 1981 with five hundred dollars, and was very proud of the fact that it is still in business today. Norman loved spending time at the beach and pool, chatting with good friends over drinks, and following current events. Intelligent and inquisitive, he never missed the opportunity find the humor in life.
He was survived by his daughter, Jennifer Spencer and son in-law Uppy Spencer. He also leaves behind his older brother Charles Mahan, nephew Chuck Mahan, and niece Kerrie Mahan Agran.
