
P. Frederick “Fred” Stavola, age 87, passed away peacefully at home on January 3, 2026, after a long illness, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on January 19, 1938, in Queens, New York, he was the son of the late Louis and Mary (Nobile) Stavola. His was a life marked by quiet strength, steadfast devotion, and a generous heart that touched all who knew him.
Fred grew up in New York, where he developed the strong work ethic and sense of responsibility that would guide him throughout his life. He served in the National Guard from 1959 until 1966, culminating in an honorable discharge.
Following his service in the National Guard, Fred attended Bronx Community College, where he earned a degree in electronic engineering technology. He went on to build a long and dedicated career with Consolidated Edison of New York, working faithfully for 36 years before his retirement.
In 1961, Fred married his longtime sweetheart, Judith “Judy” (O’Neill) Stavola, beginning a loving partnership that would span decades. They were blessed with two daughters Pamela and Melissa, who were always the pride and joy of his life.
The family made their home for many years in Hopewell Junction, New York, where Fred and Judy raised their daughters and formed lasting friendships within the community. In 1997, they began a new chapter together, retiring to Marco Island, Florida, where they continued to enjoy time with family, friends, and their cherished community.
Though a quiet man by nature, Fred possessed a truly big heart.He gave countless hours in service to the communities in which he lived, never seeking the spotlight, but always willing to help. While living in Hopewell Junction, he was active in local organizations such as the East Fishkill Softball League and the Arlington Marching Band Boosters, supporting the activities and interests of his children and neighbors.
In Marco Island, Fred joined the Marco Island Men’s Club, where he generously shared his time and talents, serving in many leadership roles, including as president in 2008. His quiet, steady presence and willingness to contribute made a lasting impact on all who served alongside him.
Fred will be remembered most as a true gentleman, known for his acts of kindness, his generous spirit, and readiness to help.
In addition to his parents, Fred is predeceased by his sister, Marie Stavola Garcia. He is survived by his devoted wife, Judy; his daughters, Pamela Gerrish-Lippincott (Rick) and Melissa Linton (Bruce); and his grandchildren, Kesley (Gerrish) Cleary, Quinn Gerrish, and Brody and Shea Linton. He is also survived by his sister, Phyllis (Stavola) Maness; his nieces and nephews Kim Amkraut (Mitch), Eric Nelson, Dennis Garcia (Simona), and Steven Garcia (Angela); and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Empath Suncoast Hospice Foundation, whose care and support brought comfort in his final days.
Those who were blessed to know Fred will carry his memory in their hearts as a loving husband and father, a devoted grandfather, a loyal friend, and a quiet, kind, steady presence.
