

STRAUB, Paul J., M.D. 81, of Largo, passed away on Thursday Feb. 25, 2010 at Morton Plant Hospital. Born in Chicago, IL on July 16, 1928, He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and graduated from the University of Miami School of Medicine in 1960. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Lorraine. Paul & Lorraine moved to the Largo area in 1962 and Dr.Straub opened his first office on West Bay Drive. Dr Straub was very active in the Largo community; he was the team Doctor for the Largo Blue Devils, as well as the Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders. Dr. Straub was Chief of Staff at Morton Plant Hospital from 1974-1976 as well as being active in the planning and running of many committees and fund raising projects for Morton Plant Hospital. Dr. Straub was a family practitioner for 36 years, mentor and colleague to many professionals in the medical community and will long be remembered for his work. He has left a legacy with his five children, Mary (Ralph) Swink, Michael Straub, Mark (Patricia) Straub, Michelle (Michael) Bell & Melanie (David) Futral along with 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, John (Therese) Albert and sister-in-law, Sylvia Major. Memorial Contributions may be given to the Morton Plant Hospital Foundation. Friends are calling on Monday, March 1, 2010 from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Moss Feaster Funeral Home, Largo, with a vigil service at 7:30 pm.
