

Wayne was born to Martha and Harold Ayers in Atlanta. Graduated from Bass High School and attended Indiana University. It was there where he met the love of his life Nancy Martin. They were married for 57 years before her passing this year, April 27. Living in Ohio they both were employed out of college by General Electric where Wayne was is advertising, Nancy an executive assistant. After retirement they chose to reside oceanfront in Belaire Beach Florida to follow their love for the gulf.
Wayne was brought up in the Christian faith. He and Nancy were members of Church by the Sea in Madeira Beach.
They enjoyed traveling especially to the North Georgia mountains and holiday trips with his parents
Wayne published several books on vacation areas in Florida which depicted old time Florida’s motels and areas of enjoyment of travelers. He was also a columnist for the Beach Beacon, an area newspaper on current events as well as board meetings of the city. Wayne was a member of the Indian Rocks Historical Society.
Wayne is survived by his brother Dave Alan Ayers of Monroe, Ga wife of 52 years Linda Cox. Nephew-Thomas Richard Ayers, wife Lisa, nieces - Jennifer Lea Ayers and Laura Ayers Melton, husband Kyle. 4 great nieces and nephews, Tucker Melton, Luke Ayers, Hadley Ayers and Lainey Melton. Nancys brother Jerry Martin, wife Louise, sister Linda Meggenholen, brother in law Ron Brown, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews on Nancys side. Lifetime friend Graham Mobley and wife Jane.
Wayne will be truly missed by so many friends. We feel comfort knowing he is peacefully resting with his Savior.
Graveside service will be held at Serenity Memorial Park And Cremation Gardens, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774, US, on September 4, 2026, from 10:00 am to 10:30 am.
