Our Dad was: a husband, a father, a grandpa, a brother an Uncle, a great uncle x 3, a Mason, a mentor, a friend, a good story teller, a tool & die maker, a carpenter, a very hard worker indeed, he was many things to many people. He was a good man.
In 1962 while still on his honeymoon Dad lost his left eye in a shooting accident (if you haven’t heard his version of the story, then you missed out). With that accident became a strength that added to his uniqueness. He worked as a tool and die maker at AMP Inc. for 33 years (with one eye) during his employment at Amp Inc. He was also a Bee Keeper at home with his father in law. He became a Mason, which lasted over 50 years as well as Eastern Star and he was an adviser with DeMolay. He was active in Scouts as well. He loved fishing, cast netting and bowling. On his down time he collected antiques, tore down old houses, gathered wood crates from the local glass companies, for their wood (mostly mahogany and Teak) and nails… then he declared his master plan: build a 4,000 sf, 3 section house that resembles a barn, from wood that he gathered from well… all over the world. (With 1 eye and the help of our 70 yr old neighbor Mr Brownie). In 2009 Dad became legally blind (it’s definitely complicated) and yet for the next 12+ yrs he still worked around his house. It has only been about 2 yrs since he stopped climbing ladders (Have you ever seen a blind man change or fix something by feel?) A week before he passed my dad finished a 3’wide 5’ tall 5 tier spice growing stand that Carole and dad had discussed) He was just an amazing and unique person. Loved by most, respected by all. Good bye Dad we Love you, may you rest in peace.
He was a past Master of Star Lodge #78 F&AM and a past patron of Magnolia Chapter #101 OES.
Masonic, Family and public memorial services are being held Tuesday July 26th at 7pm, doors open at 6pm at Serenity funeral home 13401 Indian Rocks Rd. Largo Fl 33774
