While his early life was one marked with instability, when he was a young teenager, Robert learned the valuable lesson that provided the focus of his life: Family, whether blood relatives or otherwise, are the most important people in the world. Taken in by a family with other children who, to this day affectionately call him Uncle Rob, this set him on the path to meeting his future wife Frances through mutual friends before entering the Air Force in 1954. There, he succeeded in becoming an Air Traffic Controller while stationed in Goose Bay, Labrador, Canada. Once his military service was complete, Bob, moved back to New Jersey where he and Frances married in 1958 and owned and operated a successful business for the next 11 years. Drawn by the plentiful sunshine and beautiful beaches, they moved their now young family to Largo in 1970 where Bob worked for Pall Corporation until his retirement.
He enjoyed the beauties of the outdoors on his daily walks and going to the local horse and dog tracks as well as Jai-Alai when it was in Tampa. You could also often find Bob watching his favorite Tampa Bay teams, the Bucs and the Rays while providing colorful commentary and in-game critiques to coaches, players, and officials alike.
Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years Fran; Daughter, Elizabeth (Tony); Son, Michael (Lori); daughter-in-law Jenny; and 4 grandchildren Marc (Jennifer), Lisa (Matt), Maria (Ryan); and Emma. He was preceded in death by sons Robert and Edward.
