Robert “Bob” Charles Whitlow Sr., affectionately known as "Papa Whit" to his grandchildren, passed away on October 5, 2024, at the age of 71. Born in Michigan, Bob attended Ferris State University in Grand Rapids and Oakland University in Rochester Hills before moving to Florida and continuing his education at University of South Florida in Tampa. He spent his later years in Largo, Florida, where he continued the family legacy through The Glass House, a business passed down from his father. In addition, he founded Shower Door Industries and Tempered Glass Industries, reflecting his entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to his work.
Bob was known for his boundless generosity, kindness, and humor. He shared freely with all and brought a lighthearted, irreverent wit to every conversation. Bob’s faith in God guided his life, and he took joy in simple pleasures—especially fishing and spending time on his boat. However, it was his role as a grandfather that brought him perhaps the greatest joy, and his grandchildren held a special place in his heart.
Bob is survived by his sons, Jim Salvador (married to Karen Salvador), Robert Whitlow Jr. (engaged to Alaina Moulton), and Alex Whitlow (married to Brooke Whitlow); and grandchildren Elle Salvador, Zoe Salvador, Vance Whitlow, Geneva Whitlow, Ella Whitlow, and Willow Rockwell. He is also survived by former spouse, Jan Whitlow. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Lois and William Whitlow Sr., and by his brother, William Whitlow Jr.
Services honoring Bob will take place November 23rd, 2024 at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774. The immediate family will begin to receive family and friends from 10 -11am. Bob's celebration of life will begin at 11am led by Gary Hunt.
