On Sunday, August 1st, 2021, Rudy Lewis Gagne, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 83. Rudy was born on December 17th, 1937, in Smooth Rock Falls, Ontario, Canada, to his mother Alice (Wrigglesworth) and his father, Joseph Napoleon “Paul” Gagne. He served in The Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada, a Primary Reserve regiment of the Canadian Armed Forces. On May 2nd, 1958, Rudy married his wife, Lorraine Grace Stroud, and together they raised three wonderful sons: William, Randall, and Jeffrey. Rudy owned and operated a very successful wallpaper manufacturing plant (Gagne Wallcovering) in Clearwater, FL for 40 years, and revolutionized the business with his unique designs and products. He had a passion for music and enjoyed singing and playing guitar with friends and family, playing golf and gardening. He was most known for his kind and charismatic personality.
Rudy was preceded in death by his mother Alice, his father Paul, and brothers Carl, Buddy, and Henri.
His memory will be carried on by his wife of 63 years, Lorraine, his sons William (wife Lois), Randall (wife Beth), Jeffrey (wife Katherine), 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, his brothers Glen, Kent, and Claude, his sister Marie-Anne, and countless extended family and friends who loved him dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 14th, 2021, from 2:00-4:00pm at The Belleair Country Club (1 Country Club Lane, Belleair, FL 33756). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Rudy’s name be made to The Morton Plant Mease Health Care Foundation, The Cancer Society, or a charity of your choosing.
