Russell Earl Palmer, 84, passed away at Woodside Suncoast Hospice on Monday October 9th, 2023. He was lovingly known to his family as “Fred”. Russ found peace in his final days surrounded by his wife, Susan, his three daughters and grandchildren.
Russ was born in Yonkers, New York, October 11th, 1938. He met Susan in 1956, and quickly knew his life would be one filled with love and joy. They married on September 10th, 1960, and were blessed with three girls: Beth Ann, Lynn Ann and Ann Marie.
Russ graduated from Farmingdale State College and pursued a career in advertising, eventually starting his own company, Russell Johns Associates and RPI Classifieds. He retired in 1992, while his daughter Ann Marie carries on RPI’s work to this day. His life blossomed after retirement; he was blessed with being able to focus on his passion to serve others. Over the years he volunteered at Guardian Ad Litem and at Senior Financial Services Volunteer Corp. His true passion can be seen in his work with Meals on Wheels, where he spent 20+ years delivering meals. It is truly an honor for our family to know he left this world a better place.
Russ found joy in early morning walks, many afternoons reading at Barnes and Noble with his wife, and any opportunity to spend time with his family. Russ is survived by his wife of 63 years, Susan, his daughters, Beth Ann (Scott), Lynn Ann (Kevin), and Ann Marie (Dave), his grandchildren, Greg (Viki), Keith (Constance), Stephanie, Savannah (Sid), Sierra (Doug), David, Paul (Lily), Alexa and Chad (Nina) and his great-grandchildren Alessandra, Riley, Abby, Nora, Elise, Lakely and Hogan.
He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and was very devoted in his faith. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer a donation be made to https://neighborly.org which is Pinellas County Meals on Wheels or Suncoast Hospice Care. Service will be held at Serenity Gardens, Friday, October 20th at 2:00pm.
