

LEONARD, Ruth Taylor, 90 died July 15, 2014 after a brief illness. Ruth was born in East Bend North Carolina. She was a medical stenographer at Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC where she met and married intern, Dr. James Leonard. Her husband of 65 years was the first fulltime pathologist at Morton Plant Hospital. Ruth had a rich musical background and enjoyed entertaining people. She was a member of the Belleair Garden Club, Ikebana, the Junior League and the Sew and Sews. Ruth was very involved with UPARC and was instrumental in originating the UPARC Foundation Omelette Party which continues today. Ruth also was a very active committee member of the Morton Plant Hospital Charity Ball. She is survived by her children, Maggie and her husband, Scott Douglas, Thomas J. Leonard, William T. Leonard and Clare B. Leonard and Ruth’s brother, William R. Taylor. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held 3-6 pm, Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Belleair Country Club, 1 Country Club Lane, Belleair, FL 33756.
