Sarah was born to Roy Hampton Attaway and Nelle Sue Attaway, in Dothan, Alabama on August 2, 1943. She is the younger sister to Annette Attaway Kocsis. She graduated from Largo High School in 1961 and received her cosmetology license after her high school graduation. After her marriage in 1963, she traveled the world as a military spouse and raised two children.
She leaves as her legacy two children: a daughter, Lisa Annette Driver (Daryl) and one son, David Hampton Uranga. She also leaves to cherish her memory four grandchildren: Nicholous "Nick" (Cody) Harper, David Harper, Miranda Uranga Kyle (Shannon) and Dalaney Uranga and one great granddaughter Palmer Kyle. Her children remember her as a wonderful mother who was always there for her children, and grandchildren. She had a beautiful smile, loved to dance and loved her family deeply.
She found forever true love with Louis Svabek at her 50th class reunion, and they were married on July 7, 2012. With this union, a blended family was built to include Don Svabek (Margaret), and four grandchildren: Isabella, Xavier, Ariana, and Gabriella. Sarah will be remembered for the love and happiness she brought to Louis and his family.
Sarah was a trainer for the Army and Air Force Exchange Services (AAFES) at Altus Air Force Base and Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City until she retired in July 2012 after 35 years of service. She was passionate about affecting the most positive change in people. After her retirement, she returned to Largo, Florida and became more of a social butterfly than she already was in her professional life. She was 2nd Vice President for the Largo Historical Society and a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority for many years. She was a key member of the Largo High School Class of 1961 reunion committee and always remained a LHS “Packer”. She was a support dog volunteer with her beloved Yorkie, Yogi at various assisted living and nursing homes. She exhibited her family legacy of creative talents with her paintings, basket weaving and multiple fabric paintings and designs. As one of the Cracker Supper Girls, she was a significant part of the annual Largo Cracker Supper which celebrates the history of Largo. She shared her beauty with the television audience as a Home Shopping Network hair and face model. She showed her civic duty with her role as a voting poll worker for local and national elections. She and Louis traveled all over the world, creating memories together and feeding their wanderlust. She found spiritual fulfullment within the Catholic faith and was a very active member of St. Jerome Catholic Church. She loved carousel horses and magnolias. She is remembered for her kindness, true friendship, love of family, and always having an unselfish heart.
She was preceded in death by Nelle Attaway (mother) and Roy Attaway (father).
A visitation is scheduled for March 20, 2019 at Serenity Funeral Home from 3 pm - 6 pm. The funeral will be held at St. Jerome Catholic Church at 10:30 am on Thursday, March 21, 2019 with burial at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park.
