Scott is a 1977 graduate of Dover High school, graduated from Malone College, Canton, OH in 1981; attended Moravian Theological Seminary.
Scott enjoyed working for nonprofits American Heart Association Program Director, twice Executive Director of the American Cancer Society of the Lehigh Valley, PA and Manatee County, FL.
Scott served for nearly 20 years as the original minister in the Wesleyan Church. He was also Director of Ethics and Chaplaincy of the Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown, NY.
Scott moved to Largo, FL in 2005 and in 2006 became CEO of the Largo Library Foundation and retired due to disability in 2016.
Scott is survived by his loving husband, Greg Tyillian. Their relationship started in 2005 and were married on March 11, 2017. He is also survived by his mother, Shirley Thompson of Dover, OH; sister, Patricia (Andrew) Gintz of Dover, OH; and sons, Nathan and Ben Thompson. He is also survived by Greg's mother, Mary Tyillian of Hermitage, PA; Greg's brothers, Martin, Tim (Julie), Gerry (Melissa); and Greg's sister, Sue (Michael) Piccirilli; and many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father, David Allen Thompson of Dover, OH, and George Tyillian of Hermitage, PA.
A service honoring Scott's life will be held 11am April 17th, 2024 at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774 with a reception to follow.
