Sebastian “Subby” Greco, 98, was welcomed into the arms of our Heavenly Father on September 15, 2024, peacefully in his sleep. He was born in Siracusa, Sicily and lived in East Hartford, Connecticut for many years before moving to Seminole, Florida in 1983.
He was the predeceased by his loving wife of 69 years Concetta “Connie” Greco, son of the late Luciano and Angela Rizza Greco, brother of the late Carmela Strano, and father-in-law to the late Michael Norman. He was an amazing father to his children Rita Greco (Matt Thornbrough) of Seminole, FL., Carolann Norman of Largo, FL., Joyce (Michael) Hawley of Port Richey, FL., Robert Greco of New Port Richey, FL., and Maryann (Paul) Williams of Clearwater, Fl. Subby was so proud of his 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. As well as his many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was so proud of his heritage and family. He immigrated to the United States of America in 1947, and through hard work and determination he was able to become an American citizen after only being here a short time. He was then able to sponsor his mother, sister, nieces and nephew so they too could live the American dream.
Subby was a welder by trade and a member of the Sheet Metal Worker’s Local 40 Union. He worked at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford making many parts for airplanes and rockets (some which were on display at Kennedy Space Center in Florida). He also worked in research and development in Florida where he developed many products that are used every day.
He was such a kind and loving person who would do anything for his family. He taught them to work hard and play hard.
He kept his family well entertained as he was a great musician, playing the drums and accordion at family holidays and especially on Sundays while his wife was cooking, and his children were singing along with them. He loved to read his Kindle and Bible. He was a man of many talents who also enjoyed, traveling in his RV, gardening, woodworking, working on his cars and his computer. Christmas Eve was his favorite holiday, loving the Italian tradition of the Feast of Seven Fishes, playing Po-ke-no, calling poker games and making Crispeddi (Zeppole). His family is loud and crazy, but he and his wife built a legacy in a beautiful, strong, loyal Sicilian family and created an incredible life for them. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
