Shirley C. Barkman

Shirley C Barkman, 94, of Largo, FL passed away May 12, 2023. She was daughter of the late Claude and Maude (Schoonmaker) Post. She was wife to the late Perry G Barkman (1995.)

Shirley has worked many trades: sewing brassieres, a slip factory, she enjoyed sewing big heavy army tents, she sewed dog collars, she canned mushrooms, worked at Stillwater Laundry and then 5 years working at Sherwood Medical in Argyle, NY making medical supplies (her favorite job). When she retired, Shirley & Perry moved to Florida. They enjoyed traveling with their camper and attending Florida Frontiersmen Rendezvous.

Shirley has been an avid early morning walker and bicyclist for many years. Shirley enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, her computer, our dogs, visiting family and friends, cooking, shopping, feeding birds, squirrels, rabbits etc, growing plants & flowers outside, our porch swing, reading and walking with friends. Now she is dancing with the angels.

Predeceased by two sisters: June Bielinski and Aretta Crowley. Four brothers: Claude, Esmond, Douglas and Vernon Post.

Survivors include son, Joseph Barkman (Wife Helga) and two daughters, Bonnie Fagnant (husband Arthur) and Darlene Lowell. Four Grandchildren: Jason Fagnant, Charles Barkman, Eric Barkman, and Michelle Lowell. Five Great Grandchildren: Corbin and Haley Fagnant, Kylee and Ryan Barkman and Oliver Williams. And several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be sent to the charity of your choice.
