

died January 5, 2020 at the age of 85.
Dr. Moles was an alumnus of St. Pete High School, and subsequently went on to graduate from Duke
University School of Medicine in 1958. Following graduation, he completed a residency in Internal
Medicine at the University of Florida in Gainesville. After serving as Captain in the US Army stationed at
Ft. Hood, Texas in 1962, he returned to Duke University for a 1-year fellowship in Cardiology. In 1964 he
moved his family to Clearwater to establish his own private practice.
As one of the initial physicians to establish the Diagnostic Clinic of Largo in 1972 he later went on to be a
founding member of the Largo Medical Center Hospital in 1978. In his 56 years of practice, it has been
said that he was considered an icon in the medical field and has been frequently credited to bringing
quality medical care to the Clearwater community.
Dr. Moles pursued his passions to the fullest. He was an avid outdoorsman and a connoisseur of fine
foods and wine.
He is survived by his four children, Cynthia Balkema (Clearwater, FL); Marilyn Moles-Carlisle, DVM (Ft.
Lauderdale, FL); Rhonda Moles (Snellville, GA); Matthew Moles, M.D. (Denver, CO) along with 5
grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
