Stephen Allen Little, 78, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025 in Cincinnati, OH. Born in Bethesda, Maryland, on April 2, 1947, Steve was the beloved son of Jean Elizabeth (Allen) Little and James Elwyn Little, both deceased.
Growing up in a military family, Steve spent his early years in Hawaii, Japan, Seattle, Norfolk, Virginia, and finally West Lafayette, Indiana, where he developed a lifelong sense of curiosity, adventure, and discipline. He went on to attend Purdue University’s Daniels School of Business and later earned his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, reflecting his deep commitment to learning and leadership.
Steve’s professional career was as dynamic and inspiring as the man himself. He spent 20 years with Schneider Electric, where he held various leadership positions and concluded his tenure in Paris, France, as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer. He later brought his expertise and vision to ITT and ultimately served as CIO of Xerox before his retirement. His leadership was marked by innovation, mentorship, and an unwavering belief in empowering those around him.
After retiring, Steve turned his focus to philanthropy and community impact. He was a founding supporter of A Little Compassion, a nonprofit dedicated to creating opportunities for young adults with disabilities. His devotion to the organization, both in heart and leadership, was immeasurable, and he served proudly as Board Chair until his resignation in 2025. His legacy lives on in every life touched by ALC’s mission.
Steve is survived by his beloved partner, Carolyn Reynolds, and his sister, Ann (Little) Jones, and her husband, Richard. He was a devoted stepfather to Lisa Vogel and her husband, David, and to Patsy Donovan and her husband, John. Steve took great joy in the families they built, including their children and grandchildren, who lovingly knew him as “Pops.” He will also be remembered with deep affection by his nieces and nephews, Jason, Tony, Jennifer, and Max, and their families, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Jean Elizabeth (Allen) Little and James Elwyn Little, and his brother, James William “Bill” Little.
Steve was the life of the party and the definition of generosity. His quick wit, infectious laugh, and boundless care for others left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He was endlessly giving of his time, his wisdom, and his love, and made sure that everyone in his orbit felt valued and supported.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date (details to be announced). Steve will be interred alongside his parents in Clearwater, Florida, where he will rest surrounded by family and love.
