Stephen Jason South of Seminole, FL passed away in his home surrounded by his loving parents and family after a courageous battle with colon cancer. He is now at peace with the Lord. Steve was born in Milton, FL during the summer of '69, raised in Toledo, OH before relocating to Seminole, FL thirty years ago. Steve was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. He served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard, 6 years actively and 2 years as a reservist. He was a precision machinist for over 20 years with Pneumatic Scale Angelus, a division of Barry Wehmiller. He loved his work and his colorful coworkers even more. He is remembered for his kindness, warm smile, selfless spirit, a sense of humor that kept everyone in stitches, optimism, and ever present "thumbs up" when asked how he was doing – even in the worst of times. He had a deep love of nature, fishing, and the Florida lifestyle. Always the life of the party, he loved sports, karaoke, and rocking out to his favorite bands with his circle of friends. He will be sorely missed. Steve is survived by his parents: Bill and Debbie South; paternal grandmother: Betty South; siblings: Cindy and Bob Acton, Tyler and Kym South, Sam South and Roman Black; aunts and uncles: Mary Swartz, Bob and Peg South, Ken and Mary South, Nancy Rowe, and Sue Rowe; many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews, and best friends: Martin, Mike, and Bobby AKA "The Wolf Pack." A special thank you to his dear friend Sandra for guiding him on this journey. Steve was preceded in death by paternal grandfather: William Oran South, Sr. and maternal grandparents: Mont and Viola Rowe.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children's Hospital, or Suncoast Hospice.

Steve's Celebration of Life service is today..... My heart is heavy but I know as my nephew Joey said "His heart is with Jesus". I cherish each and every moment from his beginning breath until his last. I cradled him in my arms when he came into this world and by God's grace cradled him in my arms when he left it. Those two moments will always be in my heart!

Love you my Son❤️

All the memories I have of Steve : The time we went Sanibel Island & walked seeing a giant size alligator & decided we went far enough. To the time we went to Caladesi Island & you& Uncle Ken came back from a walk& said you seen Rattlesnake. We went to the Lowry zoo & you fed the Lorakeets. You always fun to be around. I will miss you. Aunt Mary

I can't express the joy that Steve brought to our family. From the time he was born he was a happy baby. We watched him become a strong & caring man. Always willing to help his grandma. I will cherish the croquet games & the many fishing trips together. In my heart I hope your fishing with grandpa in heaven & don't run out of bait till I get there. Uncle Ken.

Remember Me

“Speak of me as you have always done.
Remember the good times, laughter, and fun.

Share the happy memories we've made.
Do not let them wither or fade.

I'll be with you in the summer's sun
And when the winter's chill has come.

I'll be the voice that whispers in the breeze.
I'm peaceful now, put your mind at ease.

I've rested my eyes and gone to sleep,
But memories we've shared are yours to keep.

Sometimes our final days may be a test,
But remember me when I was at my best.

Although things may not be the same,
Don't be afraid to use my name.

Let your sorrow last for just a while.
Comfort each other and try to smile.

I've lived a life filled with joy and fun.
Live on now, make me proud of what you'll become”.....

Steve, Your zest for life and love for your family will continue to live on through everyone’s lives that you touched. You made a tremendous impact on all the people who were so blessed to have known you, and we will surely miss having you around.

Forever young, forever humble, forever kind....till we meet again 💕💕

Our Steve always found the joy in every occasion....

Laughing, joking, and giving back to those he loved. Our lives on this earth will change without you here with us but we will be together again!

We will cherish celebrating your 50th Birthday just a few short weeks ago!

Love,
Mom and Dad

I truly enjoyed our beach time together.

It was the best.

Talking sports, casually spending the day.

I'll always remember you and you will continue to be in my heart.

I will always treasure knowing you and have so appreciated your unconditional and sincere love.

I love you..see you again.

There are so many great memories I have of my brother that I cannot even phantom listing them all. But what I can tell you about my brother is that he was a one of a kind and I am proud to have had him as my big brother.
He may have not known it, but I always looked up to Steve as I was growing up and even as an adult. Steve set the standard for how to treat others and he was always there for me, there was never a moment that I believed he wouldn't be, that was who Steve was. His smile said it all!
I could always count on Steve to make me smile and laugh, no matter how I may have been feeling that day.
Whether we were working on our cars, going to Biff Burgers for the Friday night car show, hanging out on the beach, fishing, taking in a concert or a ball game Steve was always up for it, he loved doing all these things especially with his family and friends, as you see this is what Steve's life was all about (family & friends).
It will not be the same when doing these things moving forward but Steve would want us to keep making memories.
There is a huge hole in my heart that aches more than I can convey, but I will always cherish the times we spent together and will hold them close to my heart for the rest of my days.
Thank you Steve for always being there and being a great brother and friend, I love you.
