
Suzanne, lovingly known as Suzie, was born on May 28, 1940, in La Plata, Missouri, to Earl and Elaine Green. She graduated from La Plata High School and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Northeast Missouri State University.
Suzie was married to Dr. Philip L. Shettle, who practiced ophthalmology in Largo, Florida, for 56 years. Throughout her life, Suzie was deeply involved in her community and valued education, service, and friendship. She was a member of PEO, Alpha Sigma Alpha (her college sorority), AAOA (Auxiliary to the American Osteopathic Association), DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution), and the Sundowners, a local social group.
As a child, Suzie developed a passion for baton twirling and had a lifelong love of learning and teaching. She also greatly enjoyed golfing and traveling, pursuits that brought her joy and lasting memories with family and friends.
Suzie is survived by her husband, Philip L. Shettle; her children, Lee Shettle (Debbie), Scott Shettle (Nicole), and Todd Shettle (Diana); and her beloved grandchildren, Morgan, Dalton, Channing, Logan, and Savanah.
She will be remembered for her dedication to her family, her community involvement, and her warm, engaging spirit. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A visitation will be held on January 24, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Serenity Funeral Home, located at 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774. A memorial service will follow at the same location from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. A reception will be held from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the same venue.
