FARROW, Thomas H Jr., 76 of Indian Shores died December 8, 2014 at Largo Medical Center in Largo. He was born and raised in Augusta GA and attended Georgia Tech University graduating with an Electrical Engineering Degree in 1961. He worked with Tampa Electric and later with EME in electrical construction including hospitals, heavy industrial and office buildings.
His first travels outside the USA took him to Saudi Arabia for 12 years setting up and running contracts for hospitals, banks, palaces, officers clubs, YMCA and others with the companies of J.E. Jones and later with M.A.S.I. When he was working in Russia, Siberia under the supervision of Russian Security, the construction of laboratories took place sometimes in temperatures of 40 degrees below zero. In Kuwait he was involved in getting the country and cities back on the "Grid" after the second Gulf War. Many projects in the Islands he supervised were in the islands of Jamaica, Caymans, St. Croix, St. Maarten, BWI, St. Thomas, Trinidad, and Bahamas which included a 4 year project involving the renovation and new building of :Atlantis" on Paradise Island. When Hurricane Ivan made landfall, Thomas did not evacuate as he could not get his employees out. Many of them worked with him for over 30 years. He was an exacting but fair boss who always looked after his team of employees. Health problems plagued him for many years, however he did work into his 70's.
He enjoyed watching Georgia Tech football and was a yearly donor to the Alumni Association of the University for 50 years. He was a "Gentle Man", usually smiling, and on occasion stubborn, but also a loving person whose 2 sons and his God-Children meant the world to him. He will be missed by his many friends he made at home and through his business relationships throughout the world.
Survivors include his wife and loving companion for 35 years Gwynneth Everington, and son Nathaniel Farrow. He is predeceased by a son Tom. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday December 20, 2014 at 2 pm at Serenity Funeral Home 13401 Indian Rocks Road in Largo. A life celebration luncheon is to follow at Serenity Funeral Home. People may also gather later at the home of June Nadler. Memorial contributions in his memory can be made to the Georgia Tech Alumni Association 190 North Avenue Atlanta, GA 30313.
