Waymond "Buddy" Whitehead

Waymond “Buddy” Whitehead, 87, of Seminole, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026 in his home surrounded by his family. Born on June 6, 1939, in Dothan, Alabama. Buddy was the son of Ed Whitehead and Margaret Phillips.

On March 4, 1961, Buddy married the love of his life, Dianna Jean Braun. Together they shared 64 beautiful years of marriage, raising a close-knit family.

Buddy was a man who loved the outdoors and felt most at home hunting, fishing on the water and sharing those experiences with family and friends. He loved fishing with his grandkids, many vacations in his RV, trips to the Keys diving up lobsters and scallops, and snow skiing. Buddy was an avid skin diver and won many awards with the St.Petersburg Underwater Dive Club including Diver of the Year.

Known for his remarkable ability to fix just about anything, Buddy was the person everyone called when something needed repair. Whether it was a vehicle, an appliance, a piece of equipment or a project around the house. He approached every challenge with patience, skill, and determination. His hands were rarely idle and there seemed to be no problem he couldn’t solve.

More importantly, Buddy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He taught those around him the value of hard work, self-reliance, and helping others without hesitation. His wisdom, sense of humor, and generous spirit will be remembered by all who knew him. The memories he created, the lessons he taught and the love he shared will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Buddy was a longtime member of Suncoast Community Church, where his faith in the Lord was the foundation of his life. Buddy treasured time with his family. He is survived by his loving children, Janet Hughes (Richard), Cheryl Anderson (Scott), and Curtis Whitehead (Michele); and his grandchildren, Robert Stirling, Courtney Windham (Logan), Jordon Hughes, Nicholas Hughes (Rebecca), Austin Anderson, Jared Anderson, Coral Whitehead (Gangelo), and Justin Whitehead. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Landyn Windham, Grayson Horsey, Logan Hughes, Elijah Windham, Abigail Windham, Langston Whitehead, Giana McClendon, Cleo McClendon, Angela McClendon, and Mulan McClendon.

Funeral services will be held at Suncoast Community Church, 12855 110th Avenue, Largo, FL 33774, on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 1:00 P.M
