Jean was born on April 1, 1934, in Maybeury, WVA to Joe and Ethel Sherga. Jean graduated from Beaver High School and later received a Medical Technology Certificate from St. Luke’s Hospital in Bluefield, WVA.
In 1957, Jean moved to Miami, FL to start a 38-year career in medical reagent and device manufacturing at Baxter Healthcare before starting her second 23-year role at Publix Corporation. On December 27, 1960, Jean married Joe Steed, and they had a daughter, Linda.
She was a member of Anona United Methodist Church and had a passion for travel and her family.
Jean was preceded in death by Joe Steed and her brother, Bill Sherga. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Florendo, her son-in-law, Rod Florendo, her grandson, Zack Florendo, her step-grandson, Austin Florendo and her sister-in-law, Billie Sherga.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on August 6, 2025, at the Anona Methodist Chapel with Rev. Dr. Latricia Scriven officiating.
