William H. Smart, age 81, of Clearwater, FL, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2020 after a brief illness. Born in Chicago, IL on March 9, 1939 to Robert & Dorothy Smart, Bill graduated from Lake Forest College in 1961 where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity.
Bill and his wife, Elaine Posey Smart married in June 1978, and raised a family of 6 children. He enjoyed a long career with Honeywell, Inc., serving as Manager of International Contracts Guidance & Navigation, and traveled the world extensively.
In his retirement, Bill was a passionate gardener, sports fan and genealogy researcher, and rarely sat still.
Bill is preceded in death by his brother, Robert Smart.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine, siblings John Smart (Shari) & Janet Smart of St. Louis, MO; sister-in-law,, Joan Smart; six children, Elizabeth Smart, Karl Smart (Paula), Melanie Morgan, David Smart (Kerri), Walter Crawford (Mary Beth), Taylor Crawford (Molly) and 15 grandchildren, Stanley, Ashbey, George, Morgan, Sadie, Kelsea, Mitch, Beck, Blue, Claire, Megan, Emily, Anthony, Michael and Townes.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Children's Burn Foundation of Florida, Inc. (www.childrensburnfoundationoffl.com) for Camp Tequesta.
