

Bill Sopko, 90 of Sarasota died peacefully at his home in the presence of his loving wife, Carol, on August 18, 2020. He will be remembered for his generous heart and his love and devotion to his family.
Bill was born and raised in Lakewood, Ohio. He attended Benedictine Catholic High School and was an Alter Boy in his younger years. Shortly after graduating he joined the United State Air Force.
Bill’s career was in Public Service where he worked for the City of Cleveland as a Systems Analyst creating the first automated payroll system. He retired after 25 years of service and moved to West-Central Florida where he enjoyed golfing several times a week. After the birth of their first grandchild, Shayla, they moved to Pinellas County and after the birth of their first great-grandchild, Keegan, they moved to Sarasota County.
Bill was predeceased by his mother and father Peter and Lucy, his brother Edward and sister Mary Galdun. He is survived by his wife Carol of 50 years, their daughter Susan (Sue) Moorman-Corcoran (Jim Mulvey), their granddaughter Shayla Watson (Shane) and great-grandson Keegan Watson.
No services will be held. His ashes will be placed at Sarasota National Cemetery (Sarasota) in a private ceremony. Donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice in Bills name.
