Dear Mother, i miss you with all my heart. A Eulogy for my Grandmother
Wilma Geneva Earls Drouant
1923-2010

I would like to thank all of the friends of our family that came today. This is a difficult day for all of us, and your support  means a lot to us all.

To tell the truth, it has been difficult to put into words what my Grandmother meant to me, and what she meant to each of us. It's a tall order. There isn't much I could say that would do justice to what she overcame in her lifetime. I have heard bits and pieces and odds and ends of stories about her youth. She truly was the salt of the earth, and the light of our world. While it is true that 'they don't make 'em like they used to', I would venture to say that grandma lived more in her life, than any of us here has. Do not feel sorry for her, she has lived a long, fulfilling life. She has had many wonderful children, of which, I can tell you, she is proud of each and every one.

She was a mother, a grandmother, great-grandmother, and a friend to all of us. I'm sure all of you here today has something to share on how she has touched your life. I know I have many fond of memories of her.  When I would spend the night over as a kid, her and my Aunt Dixie would make the best down-home country breakfasts I have ever had. Please don't tell Aunt Betty I said that. I can close my eyes and hear her frying fat slices of bacon in her big ole iron skillet... I can also hear her asking if I want sliced tomatoes. 'No Grandma, I'm 9, I don't like sliced tomatoes'. Every minute and a half she asks again until the breakfast dishes are done. Being the Drouants that we are, a lot of our fondest memories come from the kitchen. I loved having grandma over on Thanksgiving. She used to help my dad by peeling the potatoes. I remember last year she asked if we could just use the instant stuff. My dad made her peel them anyway. We may no longer see her, but we will always have these special moments we shared.

The Wizard of Oz told the tinman "A heart is not measured by how much you love, but how much you are loved by others." By that measure, my grandma had the biggest heart of all, for she will always have a special place in all our hearts. I can promise you all, where ever she may be, she is happy, and smiling down upon us, content to know how beloved she was.

 I know we are all grieving for the loss of a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Let us be thankful that she was in our lives. But let us not mourn her death here today, but let us celebrate her life, and the love she shared with each of us.

Grandma, if you're up there, I love you, and I can't wait to see you again one day. Keep that frying pan warmed up for me.

Grandma I am sorry and I regret not keeping in touch with you please forgive me. I love you very,very much. I do have memories, one of them is one summer you and Aunt Dixie came down to Aunt Mackie's and brought all kinds of sea food it was so DELICIOUS specially the shark steaks and flounder which that was my first time I tried shark and flounder we had a good time that summer. I will miss you very very much!

There was magic in grandmother’s touch,
and sunshine in her smile.
There was love in everything she did
to make our lives worthwhile.
We found both hope and courage
Just by looking in her eyes.
Her laughter was a source of joy,
her words warm and wise.
There was a kindness and compassion
found in her embrace,
And shining down from Heaven above
we see the glow of Grandmother’s face.

SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS OF YOUR BELOVED MOTHER. YOU ALL ARE IN OUR PRAYERS, SHE IS WITH HER HUSBAND, AND IN NO PAIN. I AM GLAD I HAD THE PLEASURE TO MEET HER. HER SWEET LITTLE VOICE WILL REMAIN IN MY HEART FOREVER. SHE LOVED YOU ALL VERY MUCH, SEEING HER FACE JUST LIGHT UP WHEN SHE TALKED TO YOU! SHE WILL BE MISSED BY ALL WHO KNEW AND LOVED HER.

Grandma you will be GREATLY MISSED. I am so grateful for the time we spent on the phone talking about the Lord. I remember when you came and visit us in Missouri and you renewed my marriage vows, it was very specially to me. I love you Grandma and I am so glad you don't have to suffer any more and I will see you again some day.

We are very sad at the loss of your Mother and Grandmother.  Maxine is our friend & neighbor and we always felt we knew her fun loving and sweet Mom.  Prayers are with you all.   Logan & Pat Doyle

So Sorry for the loss of our last of the Earls Generation.  Now Aunt Wilma will be with the rest of our Angel family in Heaven.   They will be rejoicing and blessing us here on earth.   God Be with all the family in time of sorry.  Our Prayers will be with all of the family.

You were loved, are loved and will always be loved and you will continue to be in all of our hearts forever.  We feel privileged to have had you with us for so many years and find comfort in the fact that we will all meet again some sweet day, according to God's timing.  Rest in peace sweet lady!
