Aaron was an easy-going, kind, gentle man who lived every one of his 98 years with enthusiasm and a positive outlook on life. Born in Russia, he was brought to the United States as an infant by his parents Hyman and Sarah Zuroff. They settled in New York where he was raised with his brother Al and his sister Betty Zuroff Dix. At the age of seven, his father gave him a violin, and this was the beginning of his love of music. Graduated from Yonkers HS in 1929, Aaron went on to attend The Julliard School in Manhattan where he became an accomplished violinist and bass fiddle player.
On April 10, 1938, he married Betty Zuravel. Together they traveled the country as he played in prestigious orchestras and venues including Carnegie Hall and The Rainbow Room atop Rockefeller Center. Aaron and Betty went on to have two children, Marty Zuroff and Elaine Zuroff Sinnock. The family then moved to Indiana and settled down near Betty's family. Work was scarce, and Aaron was lucky to find a job at Bendix in South Bend where he worked for 30 years. A deteriorating hearing loss kept him from playing the violin full-time, but he made up for it on the weekends. In 1987, his beloved wife Betty passed away, and eventually Aaron moved to Delray Beach, Florida where he played in five different orchestras, excelled at bridge, played golf and went dancing. He was constantly on the go and had many friends.
At the age of 89, Aaron moved to Nevada to be near his daughter and son-in-law Hugh. For nine years he called Mira Loma Assisted Living his home. His love of music and people stayed with him his entire life. Aaron was always upbeat and optimistic. He tried to make others smile daily with his jokes and teasing. Aaron never complained about his lot in life even though he lost his wife, his son, and the use of his legs. He left a legacy of two children: Marty Zuroff and Elaine Zuroff Sinnock; six wonderful grandchildren: Julie Lovisa, Darrin Zuroff, Stephanie Zuroff, Casey Zuroff, Ryan Sinnock and Matthew Sinnock; and four beautiful great-grandchildren: Gabrielle Lovisa, Dominic Lovisa, Lexi Zuroff and Mia Zuroff. He loved them all very much.
We attribute his long life to 40 years of handball and his indomitable spirit. We all love you, dad (grandpa).
