

Abran was born on December 22, 1919 in Mesilla, New Mexico to Luis and Maria Gamboa. A veteran of World War II as a tank commander in the Pacific, he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star in the US Army.
In addition to his service in the military, he was a devoted family man. One of his greatest joys in life was playing the piano. Abran and his brothers Salomon and Mike played at the very first dance at Palacios bar in Mesilla, New Mexico. Abran was a “Mesillero” and a member of the Basilica of San Albino Church in Mesilla, New Mexico. He worked at a Las Cruces furniture company, and loved farming in Mesilla, New Mexico.
In 1972, Abran moved with his family to Las Vegas, Nevada where he enjoyed his family life; he worked and retired from the Clark County Automotive Department in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He is survived by his daughters Molly Gamboa Barth, Gloria Jean Aguilar, and Lydia Gamboa; and grandchildren Lila Ferrill (great-grandson Austin), David Aguilar (great-grandson David Anthony), Derek Aguilar, Joey J. Giambra (wife Jennifer) (great-granddaughter Samantha), Gina Rose Giambra (great-grandsons Vincinzo and Mason), and Christopher Cooper.
He is preceded in death by his wife Lela Cardon Gamboa; his parents Luis and Maria Gamboa; and brothers Salomon Gamboa and Miguel (Mike) Gamboa.
Serving as pallbearers will be David Aguilar, Joey Giambra, Christopher Cooper, Anthony Gamboa, Luis Gamboa, and Steve Gamboa.
The viewing will take place at Palm Eastern Mortuary on 7600 South Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, Nevada on November 11, 2016 with burial immediately following.
