Alexander Charles Bellet, "ACE", as he was called by his buddies, died peacefully in his sleep on February 3, 2021. He was born in Herrin, Illinois on May 19, 1935. At the age of six, along with his two sisters Barbara and Dorothy, his family moved to Hazel Park, Michigan. Here he formed friendships that would last his lifetime. Alex always said some of the happiest years of his life were spent as a boy growing up in Hazel Park. While attending Hazel Park High School, he was involved in all sports, but developed a special love of baseball. He continued playing on various baseball teams into his 50's.
Alex served two stints in the Army. The first stationed at Sandia Air Force Base in New Mexico. His duty was to keep track of atomic bomb parts and placements as they were moved around the United States. The second was in Germany. Here he had his first chance at travel in Europe and it whetted his appetite for future travel. Of course, he continued playing on the Army baseball teams during his service.
At around age 50, when he stopped playing ball, he decided to try golf, and being a good athlete he became very prolific, shooting in the low 80's.
In 1987, Alex met Helen at a dance. He loved music from the 40's and old black and white movies. A steady friendship developed and they were married in 1988. They were married for 33 ½ years. During their marriage, they traveled extensively visiting many European countries; Russia, England, Germany, Sweden, etc. also took many cruises and drove all over the United States. He loved his job as a postman and continued in that position for 33 years. After his retirement, he maintained two homes, Michigan and Nevada.
Alex is survived by his wife, Helen Williams; sisters Barbara David (John), Dorothy Pawlowski (Jerry); daughter Ellen Taucher; stepchildren Gary Williams (Diana), Christopher Williams (Laurie) and Robin Williams (Craig); grandchildren Dana, Richard, Grant, Holly, Breanna, Joel, Andrew; and 7 great-grandchildren.
Interment will be at Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 10:00am on March 22nd in Boulder City, Nevada.
