

Alfonso Martinez Gonzalez, 75, a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada since 1992, passed away on September 01, 2014 at Valley Hospital after bravely fighting ALS for almost two years. Alfonso was born on December 07, 1938, in Quezon City, Philippines to Manuel and Matilde Gonzalez. He found his soul mate and partner for life at the age of 30, when he married Maria Rosabel Gonzalez of Tondo, Manila. Alfonso received a Bachelor of Arts in Business from the University of Santo Thomas (Philippines) in 1966. He continued his education as a Pre-Law student in the same institution for three and a half years. He was employed by the Coca-Cola / San Miguel Company and operated as regional supervisor in the city of Manila for 27 years. He moved and migrated to the United States with his entire family on April, 1992 and worked an array of jobs in the Hotel/Casino industry. He was a staff member at the MGM Grand from 1998 until he was forced to retire due to his illness in 2013. Alfonso loved being around friends and family. He loved it more when good food was served during social gatherings and family get-togethers. He also loved visiting family members from different parts of the country. He was a great lover of music who mostly enjoyed listening to Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole. Alfonso loved making people around him laugh especially when he told interesting stories about his life experiences and he always joked about them. Before he lost his strength, he spent most of his last days bonding with his son Terence, dining out and going to the movies. He is survived by his wife, Rosabel; his children Maria Fe, Vincent, Terence, Luisa, and Raymond; and several grandchildren who brought great pride and joy to him throughout the years.
