Ana was born on December 20, 1935 in Santiago de Cuba to Ramon and Trinidad Diaz. In 1963, she left Cuba, arrived in Las Vegas and met and married Felix Vega, her partner for life.
As a young girl she attended Catholic school and loved to play the piano. She became a music and Kindergarten teacher at the young age of 171/2. She taught in Cuba until she immigrated to the United States and for years taught private piano lessons at home while raising her daughters. Ana retired from the Clark County School District where she worked as a teacher aide for 28 years.
Ana loved her family, music, crocheting, her dog Nene, and Gnocchi Soup and Chicken Scampi from the Olive Garden, that she had to eat almost on a daily basis.
She is survived by her daughters Ana Prieto, Bertha and Maria Vega; her grandchildren Jacqueline Roscher, Elysia Byrd, Jennifer Hernandez and Jazmin Hull-Vega; and great-grandchildren Dylan Garcia and Azaliyah and Azazel Medrano, all of whom live in Las Vegas.
A funeral service will be held from 12:00pm until 5:00pm, Saturday, January 18, 2020, at Palm Eastern Mortuary.
