Angel was born in Guatemala, where he spent his early childhood surrounded by the love of his parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Family was at the heart of his upbringing, and those early years helped shape the person he would become. As a young child, Angel moved with his family to Los Angeles, California, before eventually settling in Las Vegas, Nevada, as a young teenager. These places became important chapters in his life and the journey that led him to discover his passions and pursue his dreams.
Angel’s love for filmmaking began at home, thanks to his dad, who would take the family to the movie theaters to enjoy films together. Those family outings planted a seed that would grow into a lifelong passion for storytelling and the world of cinema. What began as a love for watching movies eventually became a dream of creating them himself. Angel went on to graduate from the University of Nevada, Reno, with a degree in Digital Media, turning his childhood passion into something he could share with the world.
Angel was a beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, boyfriend, cousin, and friend whose life touched so many people. He was a creative soul with a passion for filmmaking, a love for bringing stories to life, and a personality that made him a great time to be around. Whether he was working on a film or singing karaoke with family and friends, Angel had a way of creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Filmmaking was more than just something Angel did; it was a part of who he was. Through his work as a filmmaker and his podcast, Film Goals, Angel shared his creativity, passion, and love for storytelling with the film community. Through his podcast, he interviewed people throughout Las Vegas’s film community, giving them a platform to share their journeys, experiences, and aspirations. By highlighting their stories and encouraging others to pursue their dreams, Angel helped inspire people to believe in their own potential and continue chasing what they loved. His work was about more than creating films; it was about building connections, uplifting others, and making a difference in the lives of people who shared his passion. The impact he made through his interviews, his creativity, and his dedication to the film community will continue to live on through the people he inspired and the dreams he helped encourage.
Above all, Angel loved his family and the people closest to him. He shared a special bond with his parents, Francisco and Laura Contreras, and his four siblings: Laura Santis, Francisco Contreras Jr., Adisson Contreras, and Catherine Avila. He also leaves behind his beloved nieces and nephews, Leonardo Santis, Camila Santis, Francis Contreras, Mary Jane Contreras, and Chloe Avila, who will forever be part of his story. His brothers-in-law, Mauricio Santis and Jim Avila, were also an important part of his life and the family memories they shared.
Angel was fortunate to have Enessa, his girlfriend, by his side. She brought happiness into his life and stood beside him through some of his toughest moments. Her love, presence, and unwavering support were a meaningful part of his journey, and she never left his side when he needed her most.
Angel also shared a special bond with his best friend since childhood, Michael Herman. Their friendship was built on years of memories, laughter, and companionship. Michael remained by Angel’s side through his most difficult moments, showing the kind of loyalty and love that goes beyond friendship. His presence throughout Angel’s journey will never be forgotten, and the bond they shared will always hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew them.
Angel was also a proud cat daddy to Nala and Stormy, his two beloved cats. To them, he was their whole world, and they were a special part of his. Their bond was another reminder of the love and care he gave to those who depended on him.
Angel fought hard through his final journey, showing a strength that will never be forgotten. Although losing him has left an unimaginable emptiness in the hearts of those who love him, his family finds comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering and is now at peace.
Though his time with us was far too short, Angel’s impact will never be measured by the years he lived, but by the lives he touched, the love he shared, the laughter he brought, and the memories he leaves behind. His legacy will remain in the hearts of his family and friends, in the film community he was part of, and in every story told in his honor. Through Film Goals, the people he interviewed, and the dreams he encouraged others to pursue, a part of Angel will continue to inspire others for years to come.
Angel may no longer be physically beside us, but his story is not over. It lives on through the people who love him, the films that carry his vision, the songs sung in his memory, and the countless moments that will forever bring smiles through tears.
Forever loved, forever missed, and forever part of us.
