In all of this I've had some friends;
Some folks that I could party with;
A place that I could spend a week;
A car that I could borrow once;
Acquaintances that helped me out;
A child or two that loved me still;
A mate I could debate;
Members of the church, the club;
Old buddies whose clothes I could wear;
A hairstylist who knew my hair;
Three players who played serious whist;
And a boss with a hearty "atta-girl."
In all, in celebration/strife
As daughter, sister, friend and wife,
Mother, worker
In the end
My best partner, my true friend
Has constantly
Of necessity
Been me.
