Was such a pleasure to listen to Uncle Anthony’s stories and to work with him on my WWII book.

Nice surprise! The family came out to an event I was selling books at in the South Point Casino.

Uncle Anthony’s father in law, my Great Grandpa George Niotta, owned San Francisco’s El Rey Brewing Co in the 1930s. Now some of the descendants brew tribute beers in the El Rey Beer Club. Bummed Uncle Anthony never got to brew with us.

August 4, 2016–from Uncle Anthony:

This is the guy I joined the Navy with and my best man at my wedding. His name Kimmey Daher, nick name Turk. He was wounded when we were hit by a Jap suicide plane. He was transferred to a hospital ship then got a medical discharge.
