Arlene was born on February 4, 1935 to Hyman and Rose Bender in Brooklyn, NY, the oldest of three children. Her adoring husband, Barrie, preceded her in death two days shy of 56 years of marriage.
Arlene loved to travel, and visited each of the seven continents at least once. She also enjoyed countless cruise vacations. Her many adventures included riding camels around Petra and the Pyramids in Egypt, feeding kangaroos and wallabies in Australia, swimming with dolphins and stingrays in the Caribbean, celebrating Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, and being a passenger on the maiden voyage of the Queen Mary 2.
The Brooklyn Dodgers were her first love, and she passed along her love of baseball to her children. Arlene was an avid bridge player, achieving the American Contract Bridge League’s coveted rank of Life Master in 1982.
Her metabolism was the envy of all who know her. She managed to maintain her beautiful figure despite her voracious appetite, familiarity with and proximity to the countless buffets that Las Vegas boasts.
Arlene was a devoted mother to Linda and Eric, as well as a loving wife, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend.
A graveside service for Arlene will be held Monday, December 5, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Southern Nevada Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veteran’s Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005. The service will be live-streamed https://webcasting.cashmanpro.com/pm/watchliveevent.cfm?eventID=217598
