He also leaves behind a loving extended family, including his aunts, Maria Luisa Truxell (husband Ángel Salamanca) and Yolanda Ramirez Hernández; his nieces and nephews, Zoe Lazcano (husband Joshua), Andres Mazorra, Lauren and Patrick McGlynn; his cousins, José Miguel and John Michael Mazorra, Yoanis Ramirez (and daughter Sophia González), Yoamys Graham (husband Billy and children Gianna, Finley, and William), and Amilka Delgado (and children Kianna, Adrian, and Angelito).
Lastly, he is survived by his dearest friends, who he adored and were like brothers to him: Allen Crane, Joey Martinez, Sam Ebarb, Craig Hancock, Peter Michelin, Robert Negretti, Paul Morris, Carlos Alvarez, and so many more with whom he worked and made beautiful memories.
Armando was born on October 30, 1948, in Camagüey, Cuba, and moved to the United States at the age of 13 to reunite with his beloved mother, Mercedes, who at the time was a Las Vegas showgirl. Many knew him as the long-haired hippie Cuban boy who loved rock-n-roll music, skiing, doing carpentry work, going with his buddies to car shows, breakfast at the Rainbow Club Casino, and getting Mexican food. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, grilling steaks, lying on his couch watching the Dodgers, the Raiders, the VGK, or his favorite Cowboys shows on tv on repeat, and, most of all, making sure that he was a friend to everyone. Throughout his years living in Las Vegas, he was a proud member of the Carpenters Union Local 1977, working on many job sites across the city before joining the Carpenters Shop at Caesars Palace, where he worked until his retirement.
He was truly a one-of-a-kind son, brother, cousin, uncle, and friend, whose warmth and vibrant spirit will never be forgotten. And in his words, with his hand gesture and a big smile, “Peace!”
