

She was born on January 24, 1935, in Portland, Maine, the only child of Wallace and Doris Holmes. She attended grammar and high schools in South Portland, Maine, and was a graduate of UCLA in Los Angeles, California. After college, she married David Buck in 1957, an officer in the US Navy, who she'd known from her school days in Maine. Through their 65 years of marriage, and many different homes, she raised two children, and worked as both a bookkeeper and a schoolteacher's assistant. She was an avid bowler throughout her life, and in 1996, moved to Las Vegas for retirement, where she took up bingo and made great friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David, in 2023. She is survived by her daughter Denise, of Las Vegas, and by her son Michael, of Longmont, Colorado. She will be remembered for her beaming smile, cheery disposition, and her desire to help all those around her. Her life will be celebrated at Palm Eastern mortuary on April 13th and laid to rest at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery the following day.
