Born in 1938 in Boise, Idaho, to Vern and Rae Greenwood Ricks, Bart grew up with a deep appreciation for the outdoors and the simple pleasures of small-town life. His father instilled in him an extraordinary work ethic at an early age, a lesson that would shape his entrepreneurial spirit and determination throughout his life. He shared an exceptionally close bond with his mother, Rae, whose love and presence remained an important part of his life. His Idaho roots remained central to who he was, fostering a lifelong love of nature, wildlife, and adventure.
Bart was a man of many passions. An avid fisherman and hunter, he found great joy in the outdoors, whether pursuing his next adventure or simply observing the beauty of wildlife. He also had an eye for the finer things in life, with a particular appreciation for cars, art, and jewelry. He loved to travel, discover new places, and collect experiences and stories along the way.
And Bart always had a story to tell.
A natural storyteller with a quick wit, a wonderful singing voice, and a larger-than-life personality, Bart had a way of making his presence felt. His thunderous laugh was unmistakable, and he laughed often, bringing warmth and humor to those around him. He had his own memorable way of greeting people, answering the phone with an enthusiastic "Good Morning!" regardless of the time of day. Warm, loyal, and generous with his time, Bart was never short on humor or a good story. Whether sharing a favorite memory, offering advice, or lending a helping hand, he made a lasting impression on the people fortunate enough to know him.
His entrepreneurial spirit and determination helped him build a successful business in Exhibit Trailers, an accomplishment that reflected his creativity, drive, and ability to turn ideas into reality. Through his work and personal relationships, he became a trusted mentor and friend to many.
For all his accomplishments and adventures, nothing meant more to Bart than the people he loved.
At the center of his life was Caron Edwards, his devoted and loving partner in life and business. Together, they shared a remarkable journey filled with love, partnership, and countless memories. Bart's devotion to family extended to Caron's mother, Dolores, with whom he shared an equally close and cherished relationship. Bart embraced Caron's daughters, Wendy and Kristin, as his own, building a family grounded in love, laughter, and lasting connections.
He took immense pride in celebrating Wendy's marriage to Jack, Kristin's marriage to Michael, and welcoming four grandchildren into the family: Adam, Alexandra, Luke, and Chase. Bart developed a special bond with each of them, sharing his humor, stories, wisdom, and boundless affection. He loved his grandchildren dearly, and they adored him in return. His love for family was abundant, and the relationships they shared were among the greatest joys of his life.
That love extended to the many four-legged companions who brought him so much happiness. Cole, Gabby, Max, Lola, and Sammy, along with the extended family of dogs, each held a special place in his heart. While Bart appreciated adventure, travel, and the excitement of new experiences, some of his happiest moments were spent in the comfort of home, surrounded by Caron, family, and the pups he adored.
Bart is survived by his beloved Caron; his daughters, Wendy (Jack) and Kristin (Michael); and his four cherished grandchildren, Adam, Alexandra, Luke, and Chase.
Bart will be remembered for his generous heart, unwavering loyalty, infectious humor, and extraordinary enthusiasm for life. He was a storyteller, an adventurer, a mentor, a devoted partner, a loving father and grandfather, and a man who made the lives of those around him richer simply by being part of them.
He lived fully, loved deeply, and leaves behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, and stories that will be told for generations to come.
