Beatrice was born in New York, New York on August 3, 1926, to Francis and Abraham Sova and was a Las Vegas resident since 1963. Beatrice is proceeded in death by her parents, her sister Ruth and twin sister Evelyn (who passed away two months ago), her husband Michael, her son Andrew and her son-in-law Joe.
She met Mike Katz, the love of her life, as she was his, and they were married in 1947 in New York City, both were 21. Their four children, Mel, Bob, Anne, and Andy, were all born in New York. Bea and Mike moved to Las Vegas in 1963, where they lovingly raised their family and became deeply involved in the community. Bea was a loving and devoted mother to her four children, a grandmother to her 10 grandchildren, and a great-grandmother to her 11 great-grandchildren.
In 1964, Bea and Mike started Manpower Temporary Services of Southern Nevada. The company grew dramatically and became one of the largest employers in Las Vegas. They dedicated their lives to helping others in any way they could; through their business, they connected people with job opportunities and helped companies find the right employees.
While business and community involvement were important, family always remained their top priority. They were exceptionally close and did almost everything together. Mike passed away in 1996, 39 years ago. After his passing, Bea and her son Andy continued to build Manpower Staffing and remained active in the community.
They belonged to Temple Beth Sholom, UNLV's Foundation, Jewish Federation of Las Vegas. In 2003 Bea and Andy received the Community Leaders award from Hillel Las Vegas. They were charter donors in providing full scholarships for the first class at the UNLV School of Medicine.
Her passions included her family, her business, her community, traveling, the beach, classic movies and old game shows.
Services will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at King David Memorial Chapel & Cemetery, 2697 E Eldorado Lane, Las Vegas. Memorial donations in Bea's memory may be made to the Andy Katz Memorial Scholarship Endowment at UNLV. http://engage.unlv.edu/tribute
