Becki Abadie Vincent

Becki Abadie, beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, partner, friend, mentor, artist, and unforgettable force of nature, passed away on August 26, 2026 surrounded by a lifetime of memories and a family who loved her deeply.

Becki was born on October 21, 1960, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Winnie and Thomas “Butch” Abadie. From the very beginning, she was a daddy’s girl. She attended John Ehret High School and later studied at LSU. Her first-ever job was at Popeyes, beginning a lifetime in which Becki was never afraid to work hard, try something new, or follow wherever life and adventure took her.

As a young woman, Becki worked as a waitress at Cook’s Bakery on the Westbank of New Orleans, where she met AJ, whom she married in 1979. In the early 1980s, she made the move to Las Vegas, a city that would become home and the place where she would raise her family and build a life filled with stories, friendships, accomplishments, and adventures.

Together, Becki and AJ adopted twins, Chris and Chrissi, on Christmas in 1983. Her children were always her pride and joy, and her family later grew when she welcomed Grady as her own when he was 17 years old. Becki also opened her heart to Kayla, embracing motherhood in the way she approached so much of life—with fierce love and without hesitation.

At her core, Becki was an artist. Throughout her life, she found beauty in ordinary things and had a gift for creating something unique wherever she went. She worked at her church’s daycare and as an assistant art teacher at Woodbury Middle School, sharing her creativity and her love for children.

But Becki was also a force at the poker table. Those who knew her best would proudly tell you that she was one of the greatest female poker players of her time. She won the Gold Coast Open in 1992 and took second place in the World Series of Poker in 1993—accomplishments that reflected her talent, intelligence, competitive spirit, and fearless nature.

Becki had an extraordinary ability to make family out of everyone around her. She was a godmother and second mother to many, always opening her home, her car, and her heart to the children in her life. Whether she was loading up a car full of kids for a trip to the cabin, designing and building high school homecoming floats, or simply showing up on the sidelines to cheer someone on, Becki was there. For countless people, she played a meaningful role in their childhood and left memories they will carry with them forever.

Her role as Maw Maw brought her immeasurable joy. She was a proud, loving, and doting grandmother to Aidan and Lily Vincent and Dylan and Kalia Thomas. She was especially excited to become a grandmother when Heather became pregnant with Aidan, and she embraced every moment of being Maw Maw with the same love, enthusiasm, and devotion she brought to everything else.

Known affectionately as the Puppy Fairy, Becki had a habit of giving family members dogs that, quite frankly, no one had asked for—but somehow everyone ended up loving. She adored her own puppies, Cooper and Tommy, as well as her beloved koi fish.

Becki loved Big Brother and could spend countless late-night hours watching and keeping up with every moment. She was a sly pool shark, loved sneaking out late at night to play blackjack, and rarely passed up a good adventure. She loved ahi tuna sashimi, painting, creating art, attending Aces games, and traveling the world. Becki saw almost every corner of the globe and never lost her curiosity for what might be waiting around the next corner.

Her final chapter was shared with her loyal partner, Patti Beckett. Together, they continued to make memories, travel, and enjoy life side by side.

Becki was preceded in death by her father, Thomas “Butch” Abadie; her brother, Thomas Jr. Abadie; and her husband, AJ.

She is survived by her lifelong confidant, best friend, and mentor, Wally Simmons; her mother, Winnie Bourg Lynch; her brother, Troy Abadie; her children, Chris, Chrissi, Grady, and Kayla; her daughter-in-law, Heather Vincent; her son-in-law, Chris Cline; her grandchildren, Aidan and Lily Vincent, and Dylan and Kalia Thomas; her sister-in-law, Sandra Abadie; her niece, Mysti Abadie; her nephews, Wade Rivero and TJ Moore; her great-niece, Tamyiah Clark; and her devoted partner, Patti Beckett.

She also leaves behind countless friends, godchildren, honorary children, fellow travelers, poker friends, and people whose lives were forever changed simply because Becki was a part of them.

Becki had her own special way of turning ordinary moments into something beautiful and leaving her mark wherever she went. She loved hard, lived boldly, and never did anything halfway.

She lived a million lives and touched a million hearts, leaving a little piece of herself in every heart along the way.

And for those lucky enough to have known her, there will never be another Becki.
