Benito Manuel M.D.

Dr. Benito Manuel was born in Pampanga, Philippines on October 9, 1935 and raised in Manila. Ben completed his medical degree at The University of Santo Tomas. During his internship, at the age of 26, he married the love of his life of 61 years, Ofelia Espejo. He emigrated to the United States in 1969 and settled in Dix Hills Long Island New York where they raised their three children.

Ben aka Doctor Ben was a hardworking psychiatrist with a serious work ethic. He proudly worked tirelessly to achieve the great American dream for his family. He worked in Brooklyn, New York at Downstate Medical Center, Kingsborough Psychiatric Hospital, Woodhall Hospital and Interfaith Medical Center. He was able to retire in 2012 at the age of 77. In 2020, Ben and Ofelia settled into their home in Henderson, Nevada.

Ben passed away on August 9, 2023 at the age of 87, leaving us with many memories of his deep love for family and friends. He was a dedicated and loving husband, a caring father, grandfather and a good friend. He had the most gentle nature and childlike innocence about him expressed through his big grin, smiling eyes, and infectious laugh. He loved to laugh. That laugh will be greatly missed.

Ben loved to learn new things and was excited about his many hobbies. He was passionate about everything - playing the piano, cooking, eating, tennis, music, shopping, and fashion. Oh, how he enjoyed coordinating his outfit for the day!

Ben has made his mark on this Earth and loved by all those who knew him. Our Daddy will be sorely missed.

Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Felicisimo and Veronica; and his sister Letty. He is survived by his beloved wife Ofelia; his children Maria (Mark), Roberto (Pinky) and Jessica (George); his sisters Elenita and Erlinda; his brother Jun; his grandchildren, Brandon, Ian, Antonio, Kai, Benjamin; and Nyla. Ben also leaves a host of loving cousins (Canlas family, Nida), relatives (Espejo family, Mangila family, Kuczynski family) and friends.

Memorial Service will be conducted at 10:00 AM Thursday, August 24, 2023 at Palm Eastern Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Avenue Las Vegas.
