At the age of 10, Betty accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Mount St. Olive Baptist Church in Dayton, Texas. Her faith became the foundation of her life and remained a source of strength throughout her journey.
Betty attended school in Dayton, where she enjoyed participating in extracurricular activities. She played basketball for a time and served as a majorette in the high school drill team alongside her brother, Zack Jr. Growing up in a large family on her father's land, where livestock were cared for, Betty learned the values of hard work, responsibility, and the importance of family.
After graduating from high school, Betty accepted the marriage proposal of her beloved Herman. The two were united in marriage in September 1961 while Herman was serving in the United States Navy. As a military wife, Betty accompanied Herman to various duty stations across the country before they eventually settled in Los Angeles, California. Together they welcomed three children: Gregory, the oldest, then Crystal, and Valerie, the youngest.
Betty's life was rooted in her faith, family, and strong work ethic. While living in Los Angeles, she became a member of True Friendship Baptist Church, where she sang in the church choir. She later joined Greater New Bethel Church in Inglewood, California.
A woman of determination and strength, Betty never hesitated to do whatever was necessary for her family. She was known for her loving spirit, resilience, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. Betty enjoyed watching her favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys, attending concerts, listening to music, watching stage plays and fashion shows, shopping, and spending time celebrating life's special moments with family and friends. She especially loved playing Keno and seemed to have a gift for choosing the right numbers.
Betty was also an exceptional cook. Her homemade banana pudding, dirty rice, and collard greens became family favorites that everyone eagerly anticipated at gatherings. Above all, Betty was a devoted wife, nurturing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who poured endless love into her family.
Betty began her professional career in the early 1970s working at a convalescent home. In the late 1970s, she transitioned into the medical field as a Physical Therapist, a profession she faithfully served until her retirement in 1993. Following retirement, Betty and Herman relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, where they built their dream home and embraced the joys of retirement, travel, and time with their grandchildren. Together they enjoyed visiting family and friends, attending concerts and shows, spending time at community events, and enjoying the entertainment Las Vegas had to offer.
On July 23, 2026, Betty completed her earthly journey and entered into eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Herman George Seals; her parents, Zack and Adeline Roberts; her brothers, Zack Roberts, Jr., Bobbie Gene Roberts, and Wilford Hervie Roberts; and her sisters, Florida B. Ligons, Dora Lee Gobert, and Georgia Mae Clark.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children: Gregory A. Seals (Pamela Seals); Crystal D. Seals Sutton (Shannon Sutton); and Valerie Seals (Da'Ron Ridgway). She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, Great Aunt Dot, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and dear friends whose lives were blessed by her love and presence.
Though she will be deeply missed, Betty's love, faith, and treasured memories will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
