

BeVona Phenice Fairman (Bev) was born in Texas on April 27th, 1973 to John and Versa Anne Fairman. She passed away peacefully in Las Vegas, NV on June 29th, 2024, after battling stage four Sarcoma Cancer, surrounded by her loving family.
BeVona grew up in Houston, Texas, showing an interest in education and the performing arts. She excelled academically while participating in plays, jazz bands, singing groups, and other performing arts. She began to hone her vocal craft and was known for her angelic-like tone and vocal abilities. She also participated in track and field as a 100-meter short sprinter.
BeVona graduated from high school with honors and went on to complete her Bachelor's degree with honors at Howard University in Communications and Business Management. At Howard University, she continued her love for performing arts by being a vocalist in the jazz band and a majorette dancer. After graduating, she began her career as a special events coordinator in Washington, DC for the Office of Disaster Preparedness & Emergency Management. She worked closely with DC mayor, Marion Barry, as a significant member of the mayor's command center. She then worked as an events coordinator at the presidential inauguration of the 42nd president of the United States, Bill Clinton.
BeVona continued her career by working for the Chicago Public Schools Board of Education as the Director of Communications. In 1998, she got married and had her daughter, Arielle Smith. BeVona was known as a loving mother and dedicated her life to raising her two daughters while continuing to advance her career. BeVona earned her Master's degree from DePaul University in Public Service Management and Public Administration in 2001. She then became the program director at Texas Southern University (TSU) in 2002, overseeing the Health Administration program. Bevona gave birth to her second daughter, Allison Fairman, in 2006.
After a long career in government, BeVona started her consulting company and dedicated the remainder of her life to her education, company, and caring for her two daughters. BeVona earned a PhD in Public Policy and Education from Walden University. She also returned to the performing arts, acting in TV shows and movies. She appeared in the TV series "America's Court with Judge Ross" and the movie "Everything but a Man". She received official IMDB credit for these roles.
BeVona loved music, art, traveling, adventure, beaches, sunsets, fine dining, action movies, cooking, and all things Hawaii. Her favorite place to visit and live was Honolulu, Hawaii. BeVona adored the Hawaiian culture and way of life. She frequently indulged in beach outings, strolls along Waikiki, pineapple drinks, sunsets, live music, luau's, scenic drives to Diamond Head, malasadas, and the local cuisine. BeVonas favorite cuisine was Italian, Japanese, and Mediterranean. She also enjoyed country music and often listened to her favorite artists, Chris Stapleton, and Whitney Houston. BeVona took pride in teaching her daughters how to cook and make her famous recipes. She often enjoyed watching her favorite TV series "NCIS: Hawaii" with her daughters. When she wasn't making delicious meals, she would take spontaneous trips with her two daughters to fuel her sense of adventure. She enjoyed driving with the windows down, feeling the wind in her hair on long road trips. She was known to enjoy a wonderful action movie when not enjoying Hawaii, country music, or traveling.
BeVona was the most loving, and attentive mother to her two daughters. She taught them everything about life and instilled the importance of education. She guided her daughters through life with her wisdom and advice, which they will always treasure. She was an inspiration to her daughters as she pursued her educational goals, raised two children, and ran a business. BeVona's daughters aspire to emulate her and achieve their goals, just like their mother. Bevon's presence was magnetic. She lit up any room she entered with her radiant beauty and personality. BeVona is gone but never forgotten. Her legacy will continue to live on in her daughters and the wonderful memories held by family, friends, and colleagues.
BeVona was preceded in death by her mother, Versa Dillard Fairman. She is survived by her father, John Fairman Sr., and her daughters, Arielle Smith and Allison Fairman, and her siblings: John Fairman Jr, Madeline Fairman, Quentin Sherrod Fairman, Eurika Fairman, Antonio Davis-Fairman, and Tanzla Rodriguez; her beloved cousin, Nasca Gray, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, and beloved-friends Jodi Miller, Michela Brooks, Shemicka Miller, and Jeron Jackson.
A visitation for Bevona will be held Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 3:45 PM to 5:00 PM at Palm Southwest Mortuary, 7979 W. Warm Springs Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89113, followed by a funeral service beginning 5:00 PM.
