Born on June 22, 1944 in Lexington, Massachusetts, Colonel Sheridan's remarkable journey began when he earned a baseball scholarship to the University of Miami. He graduated in 1966, marking the start of an illustrious career in sports broadcasting. His radio journey commenced at WGBS sports radio in Miami, where he honed his craft before moving on to become the Sports Director and Sports Anchor for WCIX-TV6 in Miami. However, it was Colonel Sheridan's association with Don King Productions that truly catapulted him to legendary status.
The Colonel became renowned for his unforgettable calls of some of the most historic boxing matches in history. He was the voice behind the "Rumble in the Jungle" between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman, and the "Thrilla in Manila" matching Muhammad Ali versus Joe Frazier. His commentary graced the ringside of epic Mike Tyson bouts such as: vs. Buster Douglas, Evander Holyfield, Trevor Berbick, and Michael Spinks. Colonel Bob Sheridan broadcast in excess of 10,000 radio and television fights.
Colonel Bob Sheridan's contributions to the sport were duly recognized, as he was inducted into the World Boxing Hall of Fame in 2004, followed by the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame in 2012, and the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2016. He also received the prestigious Boxing Writers Association of America's Sam Taub Award, along with numerous additional awards.
Colonel Sheridan is preceded in death by his parents, James L Sheridan Sr. and Helen M Sheridan, his beloved wife, Annie Sheridan, dear friends including Hank Goldberg, Garo Yepremian, and Nick Buoniconti. He is survived by his brother James Sheridan, loving fiancée, Jennifer Spinato, and his sons, Darrin Daniels (Amberlynn), Dennis Brooks, and Damon Rawls (Kelly).

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Colonel Bob Sheridan will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023 at 3 pm at the Palm Mortuary and Cemetery, located at 7600 S. Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123.
Colonel Bob Sheridan will forever be remembered as the voice that brought the excitement and drama of boxing into our homes and hearts, leaving an indelible mark on the sport he loved and the fans who adored him.
An International Celebration of Life will be held Monday, November 27, 2023 at 10 am. This event will also be livestreamed.
