Brent was born May 3, 1945 in Rigby, Idaho to J. Neal and Veda M. Green Erickson. He graduated from Rigby High School and attended Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho playing on their football team. Brent enlisted into the U.S. Navy and served honorably for four years, serving in the Vietnam War. During his time in the Navy, he had the opportunity to travel to Vietnam, Philippines, Japan, Panama, Key West, and many other faraway places on the USS Canberra; memories of which he loved to retell to his grandchildren. After being discharged from the Navy, Brent returned home and decided farm life in Idaho was not for him and traveled south to the bright lights of Las Vegas in his 1970 Chevelle Super Sport. He then worked for Hughes Aviation as groundcrew.
After receiving his Associates degrees in Fire Science and OSHA, Brent went to work for Clark County Fire Department for 24 years achieving the rank of engineer. He was known by the nickname of "Spud" throughout the department. Brent married Mary Boehmer in September 1971, and together they had two beautiful daughters, Brenda and Sara, and built a life in Las Vegas sharing 54 years together. In his leisure time, he enjoyed boating with friends and family at Lake Powell and Lake Mead. Brent was great at water skiing and was able to teach his family and more how to slalom ski. Brent's other love, besides his family, was golfing as he golfed everyday except weekends. In his younger days, Brent pitched fast pitch softball in a Vegas league, then turning to slow pitch as he aged with the rest of the crowd. He is best remembered by his attention to details, sweet tooth, strong outward appearance but soft heart, protector of all his girls, pristinely kept boats, trucks, and corvettes, and his inability to say no to any of his grandchildren. Brent was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and his life reflected the values of faith, service, and love.
He is survived by his wife Mary, daughters Brenda Miller (Mike) and Sara Vohwinkel (Martin), five grandchildren, Ashley, Eric, Morgan, Martin and Evan; and his siblings, Blair, Jolene, and Janeal. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother John.
Funeral service will be held on November 19, 2025 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 4340 W Warm Springs Rd, Las Vegas, NV at 9:00 A.M. A Life Well Lived
A life well lived is a precious gift, of hope and strength and grace, from someone who has made our world a brighter, better place. It’s filled with moments, sweet and sad with smiles and sometimes tears, with friendships formed and good times shared, and laughter through the years. A life well lived is a legacy, of joy and pride and pleasure, a living, lasting memory our grateful heart’s will treasure.

Your gentle face and patient smile with sadness we recall, you had a kindly word for each and died beloved by all. The voice is mute and stilled the heart that loved us well and true. Ah, bitter was the trial to part from one as good as you. You are not forgotten loved one, nor will you ever be, as long as life and memory last we will remember thee. We miss you now, our hearts are sore, as time goes by, we miss you more. Your loving smile, your gentle face, no one can fill your empty place.
