Brian Vernon Chally, age 60, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away on June 24, 2017 at home with family. Once diagnosed with cancer years ago, Brian never gave up - never complained through countless treatments- maintaining a brave and cheerful outlook of an optimistic future.
He was born in Grafton, North Dakota, on August 21, 1956, the son of Vernon and Lorraine (Olson) Chally. After receiving an English Degree from Concordia College in Minnesota, Brian completed the University of Michigan Law School in 1982 and had a long, successful career as a highly respected Attorney in Nevada. He was honored with many awards for his dedication and expertise during his career, including being selected as the first recipient of the “Distinguished Public Lawyer Award” by the State Bar of Nevada while serving as Deputy Attorney General.
Brian was an avid reader and incredibly talented writer, enjoyed the outdoors and the beach, and his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife and soul mate, Sheila Dugan Chally; stepsons Nicholas and Jeremy Dugan; stepdaughter Jennifer Rassler (Steve Brokaw) of Austin, TX; siblings Linda Chally of Fergus Falls, ND, Deborah Grant (Richard) of Fargo, ND and Laurie Larson (Charles) of Grand Forks, ND; sister-in-law Sherry Emerson and mother-in-law Doris Rader of Palm Harbor, FLA; brother-in-law Shawn Rader of Orlando, FLA and brother-in-law Gregory Page of Wayzata, MN; many nieces and nephews; a little white dog that never left his side, two cats, and countless brilliant, life-long friends.
Sadly, his beloved sister, Cynthia Page passed away just one week later on July 1st.
Everyone who remembers our beautiful Brian is asked to celebrate his life in their own way – raising a glass of their favorite drink in his memory would be quite appropriate. His family asks that you do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness in his name.
