Brigido Espiritu Cruz passed away peacefully at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 7, 2016. He was born in Bustos Bulacan, Philippines to Anakleto Ratilla Cruz and Antonia Espiritu Cruz. He courted the love of his life for a year before marrying Rosita Eliscupides Kwan on April 15, 1947. He was a working student for the Manila Public works and graduated from National University as a Civil Engineer in 1950. He excelled at his job and was promoted to the Manila Public Highway. In 1960, he strived to make a better life for his family so he accepted a job with a US based company, Wilson-Murrow, that required him to leave his family and work in the Middle East. In 1968, he brought his wife and two youngest children to Saudi Arabia with hopes to move to the United States. After a year in Saudi Arabia, he was offered a job in Salt Lake City, Utah with the Utah State Highway, Materials and Research Department where he contributed to build the I-15 freeways and Utah roads. He was also a member of Shriners International, also commonly known as The Shriners.
He was a devoted husband and father. During his life, he enjoyed food, loved to travel, took frequent naps and was fascinated by UFOs and cars. He had a creative way to "fix" things which frustrated many of his children, where they gave him the nickname "Mr. See-ra-mico." He loved to help his children clean. His favorite cleaning materials were bleach, lemons and hydrogen peroxide. He had a passion to listening to all types of music and loved to dance with his beautiful bride. After 25 years of working in Utah, the couple moved to Las Vegas in 1996 where he enjoyed many of Las Vegas' famous buffets. During their time in Las Vegas, they enjoyed life to the fullest and stayed up many nights where they danced the night away. They were even crowned Sam's Town's dance champions! He is now in heaven waiting in the buffet lines so he can pile his plate full of his favorite foods. With music blasting in the background he will finish his food and will get on the dance floor where he will do his famous dance moves.
He is survived by his wife Rose; his son Sito of Las Vegas (preceded in death by Dolly); son Johnny (Carol); daughter Emma Cruz Villamayor; daughter Wilda Cruz Yee (Jon); son Mar (Brenda); son Anthony (Wendy); 14 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren that brought him great joy in his later years.
Arrangements under the direction of Palm Eastern Mortuary, Las Vegas, NV.
