With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Carol Lyn Albertson—a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend—who leaves us with cherished memories and a legacy of love. Carol was the devoted wife to David, a treasured mother to Dawn and Brent, and a beloved Grandma to Oliver.
She was born on February 26, 1953, to Howard and Lucile Anderson in Blue Earth, Minnesota, and spent her early years on a farm in Thompson, Iowa, alongside her siblings, Gary and Sherry. She met the love of her life, David Albertson, in high school. Their first date was at the Kiester High School Homecoming Dance in October 1970, when they were just 16 and 17 years old.
Together, Carol and David built a life full of adventure, laughter, and unwavering love. Their journey took them from Iowa to Southern California, where they raised their family. Later in life, they settled in Henderson, Nevada, sharing over 51 joyful years of marriage filled with treasured moments.
Carol spent many meaningful years working in the Performing Arts Department at Saddleback College, ultimately retiring as Interim Director. She loved the creativity and excellence of not only the theatre, but also of the talented dear friends and colleagues with whom she worked. They were years well spent.
Outside of her career, Carol found joy in watching football, playing games, and spending precious time with friends and family. Whether gathering with loved ones from the Anderson and Albertson families or enjoying heartfelt conversations with dear friends, Carol’s warmth and buoyancy touched everyone who knew her.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Lucile Anderson, and her brother, Gary Anderson. She is survived by her loving husband, David; her son, Brent; her daughter, Dawn; her son-in-law, Aaron Clarke; her grandson, Oliver Clarke; her dear sister, Sherry (Ron) Penning; beloved sisters-in-law Pat Anderson, Ruth Morrissey, and Rachel Honken, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was deeply loved and will be terribly missed.
In honor of Carol’s wishes, a scattering of her ashes and a celebration of life for her immediate family will take place July 18th in Thompson, Iowa, on the farm where she grew up. Her bright spirit will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you cherish your loved ones, support the arts, embrace life’s adventures, and always make time for laughter—just as Carol did so beautifully.
