Celia Basa Saulog passed away peacefully at her home in Las Vegas, NV surrounded by her loving family on December 2, 2020 at the age of 81. She was born on May 21, 1939 in Bucandala Imus, Cavite, Philippines to Buenaventura and Felisa Basa Saulog.
Celia held a well-respected career at the Processor Treasurer’s Office at the Municipality of Imus, Cavite, Philippines and at the Clerk Auditing Office in Pasay City before moving to Chicago, Illinois in 1977. During her time in Chicago, she worked at Lexington Health Care as a Dietary Aide. In 2004, she retired to Las Vegas and worked at Ross Department Stores as a room attendant from 2008-2018. Throughout her decades of work service, her hard work did not go unnoticed where she consistently received awards for employee recognition and appreciation. Her work ethic and strength were beyond belief and admired by all. Celia worked faithfully until her health forced her to stop at the age of 79.
She is survived by her two brothers, Rodel Saulog and Raul Saulog; youngest sister, Carminia Saulog Lopez; sisters-in-law, Cita Levita and Paulette Monzon Saulog; brother-in-law, Valentin Lopez; nephews and nieces, Sherwin Saulog, Shirleen Saulog Mapanao, Ronald Saulog, Lieutenant Colonel Val Henry Lopez, Robert Saulog, Valerie Jean Saulog Lopez, and Zernalyn Saulog Ordonez
Celia, affectionately known as Ate, Cely and Kaksy Baby, loved with her whole heart and with a love that was truly unconditional. Always selfless and generous to a fault, she cared more for the needs of others than of herself. Celia expressed her love through her food and gave her heart through cooking for others. Not only did she prepare the most amazing Filipino dishes (nothing compares to hers), she derived endless joy from cooking for her nieces and nephews (Kain ka na!).
Her giving spirit, warm smile, and soft-sweet voice will stay with us forever.
Visitations will be held on Wednesday, December 9th from 1PM to 5PM, and on Thursday, December 10th from 9AM to 11AM with a funeral service to follow at 11AM at Palm Southwest Mortuary, 7979 W.
