Chet Arnold Garcia

Chet was born in San Antonio Texas on September 28, 1937, to Arnulfo and Teresa (Reyna) Garcia. Chet enlisted in the US Air Force at the age of 19 and separated honorably from service on July 10, 1960. Chet married Elda Guajardo on June 8, 1957, they remained together until Elda’s passing on August 6, 2023.

Chet and Elda moved to Southern California and raised 5 children. Chet worked for Union Carbide for many years. Upon retiring in the mid 1990’s they moved to Las Vegas Nevada. They both continued with second careers and worked another 20 years with the pharmaceutical company, Med Co in Las Vegas Nevada. They were both long time members of Holy Family Catholic Church in Las Vegas and they shared a love of baseball, enthusiastically rooting for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Chet was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Elda (Guajardo) Garcia, a daughter Lucinda (Garcia) Vassell and his parents.

Chet is survived by his children Terri (Roger) Buttchen from Richmond Virginia, Nanci Garcia from Irvine California, Vincent Garcia, and Elizabeth Garcia both in Las Vegas Nevada. His grandchildren Stephanie (Benjamin) Olson from Alexandria Virginia, Roxanne (Shawn) Leary from Las Vegas Nevada, Derrick Buttchen from Madison Wisconsin, Destiny Vassell from Costa Mesa California, and his great-grandchildren, Lucie and Kieran Olson, Colton and Kylie Leary, and Evan Vassell.

Chet’s final wish is to not have a visitation or funeral service. Burial services will be arranged by Palm Eastern Mortuary, Las Vegas, NV.
