

Connie was born in Evansville, Indiana to Robert and Martha Youree. Since she suffered greatly from childhood asthma, her family moved often to help her breath in drier locations. Connie lived in Indiana, Florida, New Mexico, Idaho and finally to Las Vegas in 1959 after receiving her teaching degree from Idaho St. University.
Connie loved teaching and was a school teacher in Las Vegas for 30 years where she taught kindergarten and second grade. In addition, after receiving her Master’s in Education, she was a student teacher instructor at UNLV and also taught classes at National University. She was a mentor to many students. Connie loved reading, traveling, the symphony and the guest lecture speaking tour at UNLV. In addition, Connie loved and was active for over 50 years in the P.E.O. Sisterhood, P.E.O., a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting women’s education worldwide through scholarships, grants, awards, and loans. She was also a member of the Towne and Mesquite Clubs.
Connie is survived by her daughter, Shelia Shelton and her grand dog Dewey, both of Orange County and numerous relatives across the United States. Connie is proceeded in death by her parents, Robert and Martha Youree, her brother, Bobby Youree and former husband Jack Shelton.
She will be missed as a loving Mother, daughter, neighbor and friend.
